Payouts & Resolution

How does a market resolve?

Once the event is over, the market is resolved by its rules, using the source they name.

  • The crypto Up or Down markets resolve on their own from a price feed when their window ends.
  • Other markets are resolved by our resolution team, who check the result against the source in the rules.

Some markets have a short review period after a result is proposed and before it becomes final. While a market waits for its result, its page says the outcome is being determined.

Who decides the outcome?

The rules decide it, through the source they name; our team or the price feed only applies them. In an event with several possible winners, such as an election, only one market can resolve Yes and the others resolve No.

Where can I see the source a market uses?

On the market page, under Rules. The rules name the source, and the sources are listed beneath them.

How long does a market take to resolve?

Crypto Up or Down markets resolve shortly after their window closes. Other markets resolve once their source confirms the result, so the timing depends on the source. The market page shows when the result is expected, under Timeline and payout.

How are my winnings worked out?

Each winning share pays ₦100, so your profit is ₦100 less what you paid for the share. A share bought at ₦60 makes ₦40, one bought at ₦25 makes ₦75, and one bought at ₦90 makes ₦10.

How are winnings paid?

Automatically. When a market resolves, winning shares are paid into your Signal balance, and your shares in that market are cleared from your portfolio. You don't need to claim anything. We also notify you of the result.

Where do my winnings go?

To your Signal balance, shown in your Wallet. You can use it to trade again or withdraw it. The payout also appears in your Portfolio under History.

What happens to my Yes shares if the market resolves No?

They pay nothing and are removed from your portfolio, and the money you paid for them isn't returned. The same goes for No shares when a market resolves Yes.

What happens if a market is voided?

Every share, Yes or No, pays ₦50, whatever you paid for it. See Understanding Markets for why.

Do I have to keep my shares until the market resolves?

  1. You can sell them while the market is open, at the price buyers are paying at the time. See Trading.
