Market Making
By Mujahid
What is a market maker?
A market maker keeps orders waiting on both sides of a market, ready to buy and to sell, so other traders can trade straight away. It earns from the gap between its buying and selling prices.
Can I make markets myself?
Anyone can place limit orders on both sides of a market, which is what a market maker does. There is no separate market maker programme to apply to.
To trade from your own software, create an API key in Settings, under API keys. A Full access key can place and cancel orders and read your account; a Read only key can only read it.
Do market makers pay lower fees or get rebates?
- Every trader pays the same trading fee on the same market, and no rebates are paid. See Fees & Charges.
